Deadline for Proposals Extended until 15 Nov 2023
The 7th Symposium of the ICTMD Study Group on Performing Arts of Southeast Asia (PASEA) will be held from June 20-26, 2024 with the University of the Philippines Visayas, University of the Philippines Diliman, Center for West Visayan Studies, UP College of Music, and the UP Center for Ethnomusicology as host institutions.
All proposals will undergo peer review, and notification of decision on proposals will be announced no later than the first week of January 2024. If you have a deadline for funding applications towards travel, accommodation and so on, please notify the Program Committee of your deadline date when sending in your proposal.

The Presentation Formats
The official symposium language is English. All proposals need to be submitted in English for review and selection purposes. Participants can choose to present in any Southeast Asian language, accompanied by English translated slides or presentations.
Proposals are invited in the following formats:

• 20-minute 15-minute solo paper presentation
• 10-minute 5-minute discussion
• Estimated length: 2000 to 2300 words (8 to 9 pages, double spaced)
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
• Abstract: maximum of 300 words
• Biographical note: 100 words or less

‣ Double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12-point font
• Options
‣ 90-minute group presentation for 3 presenters
‣ 120-minute presentation for 4 presenters
‣ 90-minute group presentation for 3 presenters and a discussant
• 10-minute discussion after each presentation
• Estimated length: 2000 to 2300 words (8 to 9 pages, double spaced) per presenter
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
• Individual abstracts: maximum of 300 words each
• Individual Biographical notes: 100 words or less each
• Written statement on the focus and central concern of the panel
• File formats
‣ MS Word (.docx) or Rich Text Format (.rtf)
‣ Double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12-point font
• 90 to 120-minute group presentation for 3 or more presenters for a given topic
• Organized by the given Chair of the Roundtable
• 10-minute presentation for each presenter before the roundtable discussion
• Estimated length: 1000 to 1200 words (4 to 5 pages, double spaced) per presenter

NOTES
• Independent abstract submissions may be added to existing panels should they fit said panels

• Individual or representatives of ICTM-PASEA research teams
• 3x4 feet maximum size
• IMRAD format (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion)
‣ Introduction
presents the background and purpose of the research. Typically, this section consists of a statement summarizing the current knowledge in an area, the knowledge that is lacking, and how the research project addresses the knowledge gap. A hypothesis can be included in this section.
‣ Methods
should specifically address the research design, the research setting, ethnographical notes, and how they were selected. This section should also include a description of the intervention (if appropriate), a description of the outcome and the method of analysis.
‣ Results
includes the qualitative and/or quantitative data. This section usually begins with a description of the subjects in the study and a description of the research result.
‣ Discussion
states concisely what can be concluded from the study and its implications. It is important that the conclusions are supported by the data presented in the Results and do not present unsubstantiated personal opinion.
