7th PASEA Symposium in UP Visayas, Iloilo City, Philippines

About the Venue

UP Visayas

The PASEA 2024 Symposium is co-hosted by the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) Campus in Iloilo City, which will also serve as the venue. The plenary sessions of the symposium will be held at the 500-seater Little Theatre where an exhibition of books, music instruments, and other Philippine products will be available for purchase. The performance hall in the UPV-Iloilo City Campus Main Building, built as the Iloilo City Hall in 1936 and restored for adaptive reuse, will house the workshops. Film screenings are scheduled at the Cinema Exmundo, the in-campus cinematheque.

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) is one of the constituent units of the UP System. It has campuses in Miagao, Iloilo; Iloilo City; and Tacloban City — with Miagao being the main campus where the central administration offices are located.

UPV’s strategic location has given it the enviable status of being the University with the most far-reaching influence in two regions – Region 6 and 7. UPV has four colleges and a school. These are the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS), the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), the College of Management (CM), the School of Technology (SoTech), and the UPV Tacloban College (UPVTC).  Continue reading

Iloilo City

The 7th ICTMD PASEA will be held at the Philippines’ first UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, Iloilo City. Not only is this city known for many flavorful dishes like pancit molo, inasal, batchoy, and kansi, but as one of the oldest cities in the Philippines, Iloilo has a plethora of heritage churches and historical mansions, including one of the few baroque churches in the Philippines.

Rich landscape of forests, ricefields, mountains or brush and bamboo thicket provided the natives with materials for clothing, shelter and tools.  Continue reading
